Ahmed Al-Kadi Private Hospital opened its doors on the 3rd April 2017. Ahmed Al-Kadi Private Hospital (The AAK Hospital) is a development of the Islamic Medical Association of South Africa (www.ima-sa.co.za). The Ahmed Al-Kadi Private Hospital is a 164-bed hospital situated in the Mayville region of Durban. The hospital design incorporates concepts of Islamic architecture such as water features, screens, arches and domes. Screens will provide privacy and ventilation, serve as a dust filter, and most of all use natural light to create reflective patterns. Cormed Clinic officially opened its doors in October 1992 and established itself as one of the leading private hospitals in the region over the years. Cormed is a private company with its shareholders and directors. Cormed is the brainchild of Dr. Corrie Lategan. He and several shareholders' financing led to the establishment and management of the clinic. Dr. Corrie's son, Dr. Pieter Lategan later took over the management. He, in turn, faced further challenges and development and grew Cormed as a within-limits, high-average clinic with high expectations and prospects. The clinic originally started as a day clinic but is now registered as a hospital with an obstetrician as well as a high-care unit. Several doctors also established their consultation rooms in and near the hospital.
